Dear Ms. Pillay, Dear Mr. Melkert,
30 days have been passed from the Iraqi Forces’ assault on Camp Ashraf where its residents, the Iranian refugees standing up to Shiite dictatorship and fundamentalism, have been killed, brutalized and beset.
Iraqi assault caused 11 deads, further 450 wounded residents, rapes and the kidnapping of 36 iranian refugees in the city of Khaless.
We see that Iraqi assault on Ashraf is happened under the political pressure of Iranian Regime on components of the Gouvernement of Baghdad.
Earlier than 20th February, Ashraf’s residents’ security was assured by USA Army, because the iranian refugees of Ashraf are under protection of the Fourth Convention of Geneve.
Later, this duty is passed to Iraqi Governement who has assured the respect of human rights and primary freedom over the whole Country.
Unfortunately, it has been stopped by the savage assault on Ashraf.
We are aware of Iraq’s preparation to the supervision of the UN Council for Human Rights on the respect, in Iraq, of human rights and primary freedom.
We trust in the United Nations, so that they care in regard the Iraqi assault on Ashraf and so that they invite Iraqi Governement to really respect human rights.
This appeal, Mr. Melkert, is first of all for You, because we hope You can assure a costant monitoring on the Camp of Ashraf and invite Iraqi Governement to respect human rights in agreement with the International Law.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Alfredo Arpaia
